After the particularly honorable invitation of the European Federation of Citizen Energy Cooperatives (RESCoop.eu), the Minoan Energy Community participated with an oral presentation at the European Sustainable Energy Week 2023, in a session entitled: "Community-proofing the EU’s energy system by rebalancing roles and resources", which took place in Brussels on June 21.
In his presentation, the scientific associate and founding member of Minoan Energy, who represented the Community, Professor Dimitris Katsaprakakis, documented the need for citizen participation in the energy transition, as a lever for development and prosperity of societies and highlighted the pathologies of the relevant legislative framework that applies in our country.
This particularly honorable invitation, which is a continuation of last year's great distinction for the Minoan Energy Community, which won the first prize within the framework of the same institution, comes to confirm the stable ties that it has developed with European partners, who have made the Community a stable interlocutor.
It is worth noting that this session was attended by senior officials of the Directorate General for Energy of the European Commission.
Minoan Energy is moving forward and fighting on all levels, for energy independence and energy democracy in Crete and Greece. We hope that the acceptance that our Community enjoys in Europe, will contribute to the formation of a legislative framework favorable for energy communities of broad base in our country.
The very interesting video of the presentation and one of the crucial questions that were asked, at the end of the presentations of the speakers, are available here
