His research activities lie mainly in the areas of chemical engineering, heterogeneous catalysis and materials science. Air pollution control, biomass upgrade, hydrogen production and renewable energy sources are some of the fields of his research area. His research work has been cited > 3700 times in the scientific literature (h-index=35).
Among the distinctions and awards that he has received in recent years are the award for best reviewer in the field of chemistry, inclusion in the list of the 50 best scientists of the University/Research Institutions of Crete, inclusion in the Srandoford list of the top 2% scientists worldwide, guest editor of several special issues on international journals, reviewer in more than 100 international journals, member of the editorial board of 15 international scientific journals.
As a member of the Minoan Energy Community, he would like to contribute to major environmental and energy issues of local communities and our country in general, involving, among others, mitigation of climate change, limitation of fossil fuels and penetration of renewable energy sources in the energy mix.
Michalis Konsolakis
Βorn in 1974, Dr. Konsolakis graduated the Department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Patras, Patra, Greece, in 1997 and obtained his Ph.D. in 2001 from the same Department. Part of his Ph.D studies was carried out in the Department of Chemistry, in Cambridge University, in the context of Greek-British Joint Research and Technology Programme. In 2004, he joined the Department of Sciences of the Technical University of Crete as a Lecturer in the field “Surface Analysis & Catalysis”. From February 2010 to June 2013 he served as Assistant Professor in the same department. In June 2013 he moved to the School of Production Engineering and Management of the Technical University of Crete, where he is currently Full Professor.
