Just a few days after Minoan Energy Community was awarded on 26/9/2022 for its first photovoltaic park at the European Sustainable Energy Week EUSEW 2022, a second award comes to certify its dynamic course.
More specifically, the Sustainable Actions for Viable Energy (SAVE) project funded by the NESOI project of Horizon 2020 won the audience award at the European Commission's Islands Gamechanger competition, held in Brussels on Tuesday 11 October 2022, in the context of the European Week of the Regions and Cities.
The project in question concerns the design of an intelligent electricity network within the boundaries of the three Municipalities - members of the Community and the preparation of energy upgrade studies for the municipal swimming pool and indoor gymnasium in Arkalochori.
The award ceremony was opened by Tonino Picula, Member of the European Parliament and President of the SEArica cross-party group, who in his short speech highlighted the need for initiatives to decarbonise EU islands and recognized the importance of the projects submitted in the competition.
