With the striking title “The Greek Miracle of the Sun” and an extensive feature story, the German magazine Energiewende Magazin examines the case of the Minoan Energy Community, describing it as an exceptional example of cooperation between citizens and elected officials—one that strengthens social cohesion and solidarity with vulnerable members of society, around a public good that shapes all human activity: energy.
With a human‑centered approach and vivid narrative style—avoiding grandiose language—the journalist Rodothea Seralidou gives voice to the pioneers of the Community. During her field visit to Arkalohori, Ms. Seralidou meets people who transformed their childhood experiences, their vision, and their scientific knowledge into a shared asset for a small town that has been tested in recent years by multiple challenges: the earthquake, the economic crisis, the climate crisis, and major infrastructure projects that are reshaping its identity.
We warmly thank Ms. Seralidou and Energiewende Magazin, with whom we share the same goals of informing, educating, and mobilizing citizens so they can participate in the discussion on the energy transition in a fair and environmentally responsible way.
