On Friday afternoon, July 11, we had the unique opportunity, as Minoan Energy, to visit Greenpeace’s iconic vessel *Arctic Sunrise*, which arrived at the port of Heraklion as part of its Europe wide awareness tour for the protection of marine biodiversity.
The experience of being aboard such a historic ship was truly special for all our members. During the visit, presentations were given by Greenpeace and Minoan Energy, highlighting our shared actions toward a sustainable and fair energy future.
We also had the chance to engage in a meaningful discussion with the Greenpeace team and representatives of local government about the energy transition in Crete. We talked about the potential of renewable energy sources, the challenges and difficulties ahead, and the need for strong cooperation between elected officials and citizens.
Because public awareness and active citizen participation are perhaps the strongest guarantees for a truly fair and inclusive energy transition.
Warm thanks to Greenpeace! Encounters like this fill us with inspiration and energy, helping us look to the future with greater optimism.
