Completion of the New Energy Solutions Optimized for Islands (NESOI) Project

With a grand and celebratory ceremony—worthy of its importance and impact—and in a particularly warm atmosphere, the flagship European Commission project New Energy Solutions Optimized for Islands (NESOI) was officially concluded today, 28 February 2024, in Brussels.

Both the Minoan Energy Community and the Sifnos Energy Community had the opportunity to participate in this project through dedicated funding for the development of their respective sub‑projects, Sustainable Actions for Viable Energy (SAVE) for Minoan Energy, and Seeking Innovations For eNergy Optimized Saving (SIFNOS) for the Sifnos Energy Community.

These two initiatives involved the design study of a smart electricity grid in Crete, the energy upgrade of sports facilities in Arkalohori, the development of a central solar‑collector station and a district heating network for hot‑water production in Sifnos, and energy‑saving interventions in the island’s municipal water‑supply network.

We extend our warmest thanks to the NESOI project for approving and funding these two initiatives, for supporting their implementation, and for the honor of inviting us to present them at today’s closing ceremony.

Our involvement in NESOI has been a unique experience—an important material and moral support to our efforts, and a clear confirmation that in our struggle for a fair energy transition, we are not alone.

Minoan Energy Welcomes the Municipality of Lasithi Plateau into Its Growing Family

The Municipal Council of the Municipality of Lasithi Plateau, in its meeting today, decided to register the Municipality as a member of the Minoan Energy Community. It thus becomes the sixth municipality in Crete to join the Community, with this number expected to increase in the near future.

The Lasithi Plateau is one of Crete’s most iconic landmarks, well‑known throughout Greece, with significant historical, agricultural, economic, climatic, and folkloric importance. Above all, however, it is a place of authentic people who honor the values of friendship and hospitality.

The very positive atmosphere during the meetings held in recent days with Mayor Mr. Athanasakis and his associates foreshadowed today’s encouraging development. The Municipality’s wholehearted support for our Community boosts our morale and strengthens our efforts to ensure that every Cretan household can have its own energy.

This decision is also particularly important for another reason: the Lasithi Plateau is one of the four eligible areas in Crete where innovative renewable‑energy projects will be implemented under the flagship “Crete Valley” initiative, in which Minoan Energy participates. The project includes the creation of a biogas production unit and the installation of small electric windmills—designed in the spirit of the traditional windmill that is the Plateau’s trademark—to generate clean energy. During the meetings of the past days, the initial project design and the siting of the facilities were discussed.

Another project currently underway by Minoan Energy, Life Local Ownership Of Power (Life LOOP), provides for the preparation of a comprehensive energy‑upgrade study for a municipal building designated by the Municipality. This study will be complete and ready for implementation—at the level of final application design and tender documents—without any financial burden on the citizens.

We warmly thank Mayor Mr. Athanasakis and the members of the Municipal Council for today’s decision and for their positive stance, which signals the beginning of a highly constructive collaboration.

Μεγάλη απήχηση είχαν οι ενημερωτικές εκδηλώσεις για τις Ενεργειακές Κοινότητες που πραγματοποιήθηκαν στα Χανιά

Μεγάλη απήχηση είχαν οι ενημερωτικές εκδηλώσεις που πραγματοποιήθηκαν το προηγούμενο διήμερο σε Χανιά και Πλατανιά στις, οποίες η επιστημονική ομάδα της Μινώα Ενεργειακής παρουσίασε τη λύση στην οικονομική ανασφάλεια που προκαλεί στους πολίτες η σύγχρονη οικονομία της ενέργειας.

Οι Ενεργειακές Κοινότητες, που λειτουργούν εδώ και πολλά χρόνια σε πολλές Ευρωπαϊκές χώρες, πρόσφατα και στην Ελλάδα, όχι μόνο εξασφαλίζουν δωρεάν ηλεκτρικό ρεύμα στα μέλη τους, αξιοποιώντας ανανεώσιμες πηγές ενέργειας, αλλά αποτελούν και μια “πράσινη” επιλογή που σέβεται το περιβάλλον.

Οι εκδηλώσεις αυτές, εντάσσονται σε μια σειρά εκπαιδεύσεων που θα πραγματοποιηθούν σε όλο το νησί, χρηματοδοτούνται από το Περιφερειακό Πρόγραμμα Ανάπτυξης (ΠΠΑ), με την αρωγή της Περιφέρειας Κρήτης, υλοποιούνται από την επιστημονική ομάδα της Μινώα Ενεργειακής Κοινότητας και υποστηρίζονται τεχνικά και διοικητικά από τον Αναπτυξιακό Οργανισμό Τοπικής Αυτοδιοίκησης «ΔΑΙΔΑΛΟΣ Α.Ε.».

Οι θεματικές ενότητες των εκπαιδεύσεων έχουν σχεδιαστεί με τέτοιο τρόπο ώστε να μπορούν να ενημερώνονται κατάλληλα τόσο το ευρύ κοινό, όσο και πιο εξειδικευμένες ομάδες όπως οι ξενοδόχοι, οι αγρότες, τα σχολεία, οι οργανισμοί τοπικής αυτοδιοίκησης κ.α.

Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι πλήθος τοπικών μέσων ενημέρωσης, από ειδησεογραφικά portals, εφημερίδες και τηλεοπτικούς σταθμούς είχαν αναλυτικά ρεπορτάζ των εκδηλώσεων και φιλοξένησαν δηλώσεις μελών της επιστημονικής ομάδας της Μινώα Ενεργειακής.

Συνάντηση στελεχών της Μινώα Ενεργειακής και του ΕΛΜΕΠΑ με το Δήμαρχο Οροπεδίου Λασιθίου

Μια πολύ εποικοδομητική συνάντηση είχαν μέλη της Μινώα Ενεργειακής Κοινότητας και του Ελληνικού Μεσογειακού Πανεπιστημίου, με το Δήμαρχο Οροπεδίου Λασιθίου κ. Αθανασάκη Γεώργιο, τον Αντιδήμαρχο κ. Περισυνάκη Μάνο και τον Ειδικό Σύμβουλο κ. Χρονάκη Μανόλη.

Αντικείμενο της συνάντησης ήταν συμμετοχή του Δήμου στη Μινώα Ενεργειακή Κοινότητα και η συνεργασία στο πλαίσιο δύο έργων στα οποία συμμετέχει η Κοινότητα και χρηματοδοτούνται από Ευρωπαϊκούς πόρους.

Το πρώτο, με την ονομασία Life Local Ownership Of Power (Life LOOP), προβλέπει την εκπόνηση μελέτης ενεργειακής αναβάθμισης σε ένα δημοτικό κτίριο που θα υποδείξει ο Δήμος, η οποία θα είναι πλήρης και έτοιμη προς υλοποίηση, δηλαδή σε επίπεδο οριστικής μελέτης εφαρμογής και τευχών δημοπράτησης, χωρίς καμία οικονομική επιβάρυνση για τους δημότες.

Το δεύτερο, με την επωνυμία Crete Renewable Energy Valley, προβλέπει την κατασκευή σημαντικών, καινοτόμων ενεργειακών έργων τα οποία θα αξιοποιούν τα συγκριτικά πλεονεκτήματα της ιστορικής περιοχής του Οροπεδίου και θα ανταποκρίνονται στις ιδιαίτερες ενεργειακές ανάγκες των κατοίκων της.

Αισθανόμαστε ευγνώμονες για τη ζεστή φιλοξενία που μας επιφύλασσαν στο Οροπέδιο Λασιθίου, για το ενδιαφέρον των αρχών του Δήμου σε όσα προτείναμε και για την ευγενική διάθεσή τους απέναντί μας.

Η προσπάθειά μας συνεχίζεται όλο και πιο έντονη για την κατάκτηση της ενεργειακής δημοκρατίας στην Κρήτη, με την ενεργή εμπλοκή όλων των πολιτών και των φορέων του νησιού.

Launch of the Educational Programme on the Energy Transition

On Saturday, 10 February 2024, the first in a series of informational events on issues related to the Energy Transition took place, as part of the Educational Programme funded by the Regional Development Programme of the Region of Crete and implemented by the scientific team of Minoan Energy, with the technical and administrative support of the Local Government Development Agency “DAIDALOS S.A.”

The aim of the programme is to inform citizens about the opportunities and advantages of Renewable Energy Sources, the shift away from fossil fuels, the operation of broad‑based Energy Communities, and their contribution to society. Through comprehensive and multifaceted information, the programme highlights the philosophy of energy democracy and justice.

At the same time, the initiative seeks to motivate citizens to become consciously involved in the transition to clean energy sources, to strengthen local entrepreneurship, and to promote a solidarity‑based economy. In this way, investments in Renewable Energy Sources are carried out with society as an ally, while the economic and social benefits return to local communities.

This first event focused on professionals in the tourism sector and was held in the Municipal Council Chamber at the Municipal Building of Hersonissos.

Ο Δήμος Χερσονήσου επίσημο μέλος της Μινώα Ενεργειακής

Με χαρά ανακοινώνουμε την τιμητική συμμετοχή του Δήμου Χερσονήσου, ως επίσημο μέλος, στη Μινώα Ενεργειακή Κοινότητα, μετά τη σχετική ομόφωνη απόφαση του Δημοτικού Συμβουλίου στη συνεδρίασή του την Τρίτη 6/2.

Επίσης συμφωνήθηκε η Κοινότητά μας να εκπονήσει μελέτη ενεργειακής αναβάθμισης μιας δημοτικής υποδομής που θα μας υποδείξει ο Δήμος, η οποία θα είναι πλήρης και έτοιμη προς υλοποίηση, δηλαδή σε επίπεδο οριστικής μελέτης εφαρμογής και τευχών δημοπράτησης, χωρίς καμία οικονομική επιβάρυνση του Δήμου. Το κόστος της μελέτης θα καλυφθεί από το Ευρωπαϊκό Έργο Life Local Ownership Of Power (Life LOOP) στο οποίο συμμετέχει η Μινώα Ενεργειακή.

Ευχαριστούμε θερμά το Δήμαρχο Χερσονήσου κ. Δοξαστάκη Ζαχαρία, για την άμεση ανταπόκριση στην πρόσκλησή μας και τη θετική εισήγησή του στο Δημοτικό Συμβούλιο.

Προχωράμε ακόμα περισσότερο ισχυροί προς τον τελικό στόχο μας που είναι η ενεργειακή δημοκρατία και ανεξαρτησία στην Κρήτη!

Έκτακτη Γενική Συνέλευση 02.02.2024

Σε έκτακτη Γενική Συνέλευση των μελών της προχώρησε η Μινώα Ενεργειακή την Παρασκευή 02.02.2024, στην αίθουσα του Πολύκεντρου της Ιεράς Μητρόπολης στο Αρκαλοχώρι. Η συνέλευση πραγματοποιήθηκε με φυσική και ηλεκτρονική παρουσία.

Η Γενική Συνέλευση συζήτησε και ενέκρινε τη μετατροπή της Κοινότητας σε Ενεργειακή Κοινότητα Πολιτών (ΕΚΠ) και τη μεταφορά έδρας της Αίολος Ενεργειακής Κοινότητας Πολιτών στην Κοζάνη. Τις αλλαγές αυτές υπαγόρευσε η πρόσφατη τροποποίηση του νομοθετικού πλαισίου που απαγορεύει σε Κοινότητες που ιδρύθηκαν με το Ν 4513/2018, να υλοποιούν έργα ενέργειας. Και επειδή δεν επιτρέπεται η συμμετοχή σε περισσότερες από μία ΕΚΠ, στην ίδια γεωγραφική περιοχή, κρίθηκε αναγκαία η μεταφορά της έδρας της Αίολος.

Ο Πρόεδρος της Μινώα κος Γιαννόπουλος, στην τοποθέτησή του, χαρακτήρισε ιδανική την Κοζάνη ως έδρα, μια περιοχή απολιγνιτοποίησης, που διαθέτει πυκνό δίκτυο υψηλής και υπερ-υψηλής τάσης, με σύντομους χρόνους σύνδεσης και εγγύτητα στα εξωτερικά σύνορα της χώρας μας.

Από τη μεριά του ο Δήμαρχος Μινώα Πεδιάδας και μέλος του ΔΣ της Μινώα κος Κεγκέρογλου, υπερθεματίζοντας για τις προτεινόμενες αλλαγές, τόνισε ότι οι εξελίξεις τρέχουν τόσο στην πραγματική οικονομία των πόρων της ενέργειας όσο και σε θεσμικό επίπεδο και εμείς σαν Κοινότητα οφείλουμε να προσαρμοζόμαστε και με τις δύο πραγματικότητες, προκειμένου τα μέλη μας να επωφελούνται στο μέγιστο δυνατό βαθμό. Τόνισε επίσης, πως με το σύνολο των Κοινοτήτων που έχει ιδρύσει η Μινώα, διαθέτουμε όλες τις δυνατότητες που μας παρέχει το νομοθετικό πλαίσιο.

Το δεύτερο θέμα που εγκρίθηκε ήταν η παράταση της μη διανομής πλεονασμάτων έως το έτος 2030, καθώς ο νέος Νόμος 5037/2023 προβλέπει ότι το αποθεματικό θα πρέπει να είναι τουλάχιστον 80% και επομένως κρίνεται ασύμφορη κάθε επένδυση. Επιπλέον, με την απόφαση αυτή, θα έχουμε τη δυνατότητα συμμετοχής σε νέα χρηματοδοτούμενα προγράμματα, όπως το INTERREG, από τα οποία θα εξασφαλίσουμε πόρους, για την μείωση του κόστους λειτουργίας μας.

Με την ευκαιρία της Γενικής Συνέλευσης, ο κος Γιαννόπουλος ενημέρωσε τα μέλη για την πορεία υλοποίησης των έργων ενεργειακού συμψηφισμού. Πιο συγκεκριμένα σε ότι αφορά το 3ο έργο που υλοποιείται στη Δυτική Ελλάδα, βρισκόμαστε σε αναμονή σύνδεσης από τον ΔΕΔΔΗΕ ενώ για το 4ο έργο στη Κρήτη έχουμε λάβει πληρότητα φακέλου και αναμένουμε να λάβουμε όρους σύνδεσης, κάτι το οποίο έπρεπε ήδη να είχε γίνει. Σε ότι αφορά το 5ο και 6ο έργο έχουμε υποβάλλει ενστάσεις και αναμένουμε τα αποτελέσματα. Μάλιστα στην πρόσφατη συνάντησή του με στελέχη της Ρυθμιστικής Αρχής Ενέργειας στην Αθήνα, ο κος Γιαννόπουλος επισήμανε την ανάγκη να εξαλειφθούν τα εμπόδια που καθυστερούν την υλοποίηση έργων από τις Ενεργειακές Κοινότητες ευρείας λαϊκής βάσης.

Έθεσε επίσης την επιστημονική ομάδα της Μινώα, στη διάθεση της Περιφέρειας και των Δήμων της Κρήτης, προκειμένου να βοηθήσει με την τεχνογνωσία της στην υλοποίηση έργων όπως το Απόλλων ή το έργο Δίκαιης Αναπτυξιακής Μετάβασης στα πλαίσια των οποίων προβλέπεται είτε η δημιουργία Ενεργειακών Κοινοτήτων, ανά Περιφέρεια, για παροχή ενέργειας σε ευάλωτους είτε η ανάπτυξη έργων σχετικών με την ενέργεια. Σε αυτό συμφώνησε και ο κος Κεγκέρογλου ο οποίος τόνισε ότι το ενεργειακό κόστος των Δήμων έχει φτάσει σε τέτοια δυσθεώρητα επίπεδα που πλέον δεν αρκούν τα παραδοσιακά μέτρα εξοικονόμησης. Και εκδήλωσε την επιθυμία του για περισσότερα, σταθερότερα και αποτελεσματικότερα βήματα συνεργασίας με τη Μινώα Ενεργειακή.

Από τη μεριά του ο κος Νίκος Ξυλούρης, Αντιπεριφερειάρχης Περιβάλλοντος και Αντιπρόεδρος της Μινώα, τόνισε την ανάγκη στενότερης συνεργασίας, πολλώ δε μάλλον, με την αφορμή προγραμμάτων όπως το Απόλλων, μετέφερε τη στήριξη του Περιφερειάρχη κου Αρναουτάκη και τη δέσμευσή του για συμμετοχή της Περιφέρειας και στις τρεις Ενεργειακές Κοινότητες που λειτουργούν πλέον υπό τη σκέπη της Μινώα Ενεργειακής.

Τέλος, από τη συζήτηση δεν θα μπορούσε να λείψει το θέμα της υλοποίησης του έργου Crete Valley που ενσωματώνει πολλές καινοτομίες όχι μόνο σε επίπεδο τεχνολογίας αλλά και σε επίπεδο κοινωνίας. Μάλιστα το ενδιαφέρον του κοινού αποδείχθηκε ιδιαίτερα ζεστό για το έργο αυτό.

Την έκτακτη Γενική Συνέλευση συντόνισε η ειδική σύμβουλος της Περιφέρειας Κρήτης και μέλος του ΔΣ της Μινώα Ενεργειακής, κα Ερμιόνη Γιαλύτη.
